The film is now complete! Click here to view the trailer for Garden of Bliss. This production blog only contains pre-production and early production material but I may update some animation process here later.

I managed to advance a little bit in animation and figured out some more colouring and backgrounds. The animatic can probably speak for itself, which includes most of my progress so far, excluding some backgrounds. Looking at this semester, there is definitely some downfalls but I'm generally happy that this film is still going where I want it to be. I hope I can recharge and move forward during the winter break.
This week I was held back by the research project for professional practice so I only edited the timing and fixed some small places. I am planning to advance quite a bit in animation before the final presentation but unfortunately I have very little progress this week. I have spoken to my background assistants and composer this week, and everything is coming along but I'm not there yet.
The updated animatic now has final voices and a little bit of wip, coloured shots, and animation. I am planning to change the background for the neon hallways quite a bit and in the animatic this is not reflected. After I complied everything together, I found myself unhappy about the pacing in several places. Voices and music make everything seem faster, but it won't be a hard thing to fix. Next week I hope to keep working on animation and some backgrounds with my helpers/collaborators. I am also going to discuss with a composer/sound designer to settle down on a plan for sound.
Things were slower this week, and by the time I posted the entry I had not had time to edit a new animatic. The updated animatic should be updated in a few days. I have also edited Luciel's hair but there is some last small things to fix to make it look decent. I'm trying to clean up Trinity's walk in Harmony right now and I will hopefully finish that soon. I took time to keyframe some more shots and continued to test out some backgrounds. My background design assistant provided me with some great designs for the hallway, and I will be working on how to best incorporate those into the film. After a long consideration, I decided to change the Adam and Eve painting to another one because the previous painting was not a photo taken by me. It probably will not impact the film that much but I will make sure the change is not somehow damaging. This week I took some time to keyframe the first scene, since it's the first scene and probably has the least issue with both story and cinematography etc. During the process I was able get a feel of things and think more critically how to improve the shots. But due to pitch night and assignments from another class, I have not been able to go through too much of my animatic. I will be focusing more on the animatic this coming week and make a bigger update. On Sunday I finished a recording session with Nadia's voice actor, and I will be doing some dialogue test soon. I have also found a potential background assistant and am very excited and thankful about that. If things work out I will be able to have more detailed backgrounds. The coloured shots are slightly updated. Last week I received some good feedback for my animatic, but I haven't completely figured out how I'm changing everything so the modification is minimal. Some transitions are hard to show because they involve crossfading colours, so I will try to make some tests regarding that. I worked on some keyframing (don't have all of them here) and colour/look tests, and kept working on the walk cycles. Trinity's walk requires some more work but is more polished. I still have to spend quite some time to fix Luciel's hair since I redid the movement.
Since I have finally found all the voice actors, I took time to try to finalize the script. I might still change little things but it is pretty much settled. Right now I am trying to go through backgrounds and start key framing early scenes, while working on the walk cycle for the panning scene. I think I will most likely split my time doing these three things for the next weeks. I tried out several different things this week to have a better picture of what the film will look like. I spent some more time on background and worked on Luciel's movement cycle (very rough) that appears in the same panning scene as Trinity. I am hoping to make this my fully render scene since it is one of the most complex and will help me see how things can be done. I also spent quite some time on the research section and will probably be adding some more things later. After receiving feedback, I have also been coming up with some plans to better organize my production and reviewing things here and there.
I'm compiling the shot list in my production schedule and modifying the overall schedule right now. Throughout the next week I will continue to be adding more and more. Even though it is late, I have finally managed to get some voice actors submissions after a few failed attempts. I will be contacting them very soon and communicating when will be the best time to record and I will need it asap. My script is almost there and I have been working on it every week, but I still need to really consolidate it. I have also found some music composers who I want to reach out in the next few days. This was a rather slow week, and I spent a lot of time trying to finish the Last Judgement painting. Still it is not finished yet and I'm not that happy about it right now. Regardless, I will keep moving forward on backgrounds and really try to do colour and animation tests.
